Pilates Mat Classes

Pilates mat classes involve the use of Resistance bands, pilates soft balls and other small props.

We work on Balance to help prevent falls and to develop stabilising muscles.  We work on mobility, stability and flexibility.

Barre Fitness Classes

This increasingly popular exercise regime incorporates the precision of Pilates with the positions, moves, grace and technique of ballet. Add to this the alignment of Pilates and the strength from sports conditioning and you will have all of the aspects of a typical Barre workout.

Pilates for Seniors

This class is aimed at beginners and will focus on improving joint mobility, co-ordination, balance, posture and strength. Regular Pilates practice can help to reduce joint pain and increase bone density.

Clients will be guided through exercises on a chair, standing and on a Mat.

‘If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old; if it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.’ Joseph Pilates

Reformer Sessions

The Pilates reformer is a traditional piece of Pilates equipment which looks like a bed with springs, a sliding carriage, ropes and pulleys. The origins of the Pilates reformer date back to the original Pilates studio in New York in the 1920's and was designed by Joseph Pilates himself.  Benefits include:

  • The variable resistance can be changed with each exercise according to the clients needs and ability.
  • The springs may be used to improve flexibility and increase muscle strength.
  • Proper alignment is emphasised when working within the fixed frame of the machine
  • Muscle imbalances are identified and highlighted easily.
  • Core stability is further challenged when working to stabilisise the torso against the resistance of the springs.
  • A tailored exercise programme can be designed around the clients wants and needs
